The Nightsongs Open Mike is held on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Song-a-Day Music Center. Music begins at 7PM; sign-up is at 6:30PM. Donations are gratefully accepted. The evening is hosted by RJ (Ruth O'Neil and Jim Hammitt).

The Song-a-Day Music Center will be offering a free workshop: Pain Management with  the Alexander Technique, on Tuesday, February 21  from 7-8:30 pm at the Song-a-Day Music Center 2809 Boston Turnpike (Rte.44)  in Coventry, CT. This workshop is free and open to the public.

The Alexander Technique is an alternative medicine educational discipline with therapeutic effects that studies bodily coordination, including psychological principles of awareness. It is applied for purposes of recovering freedom of movement, in the mastery of performing arts, and for general self-improvement affecting poise, impulse control and attention.

Paul Recker, M.AmSAT, will be conducting the workshop. Recker teaches the Alexander Technique at Song-a-Day. He has been a full-time musician since 1986, and began learning the Alexander Technique in 1998. Recker graduated from the Alexander Technique School New England (ATCNE) and is certified to teach the Technique by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT).
