This class is open to grade 6-8 students who have received more than one year of instruction playing a band or orchestral instrument and can read treble or bass clef. Participants will learn how to create a melody, words and harmony as well as arranging compositions using traditional notation. Students are encouraged to bring a Laptop, iPad/tablet or Smart phone if they have one to download free music software to aid in composing but it is not required. A performance of the students' musical works will be given by the class during the last half hour on the final day.

Mr. Susi has taught instrumental music at the middle school, high school and college level in CT for 30 years. Mr. Susi is also an avid performer and composer in a variety of genres. His band compositions have been published by Grand Mesa Music, his song "The Search" was used on "As The World Turns" and his recent CD of original Pop music, "Here & Now" is available through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon & Google Music .
